Han revealed in an interview with Collider 2022 how she approaches her novels for television. “I asked myself, which elements do I feel are most important to keep?” She asked, “What are the main concerns of the fans?” I can pull out all the emails, comments, and letters that I have seen from fans over the years, so this is how we approached the adaptation. What is the most important thing to the original fans? What will be the most fun and exciting for me to explore, as well? As a writer you need to feel that you are doing something different. It’s going to be different, but how will it look? How can I make it feel new?

All the pieces were coming together. “That’s the way I see it, and now everything is clear.”
