In The Summer I Turned Pretty, who does Belly choose between Jeremiah and Conrad? Conrad is the answer. Jenny Han’s We’ll Always Have Summer, the third Summer I Turned Pretty novel, features Belly as she reconnects with Conrad, after breaking up with Jeremy. Belly and Jeremiah are dating for two years when the book begins. Belly’s jealousy of Lacie, who is a member of Jeremiah fraternity’s sorority sister, causes their relationship to start to crumble.

Belly’s fear is confirmed when Lacie tells her that Jeremiah had sex during spring break. Jeremiah confirms this. Belly slaps Jeremiah, and they break up. Belly recalls that she and Jeremiah had a fight just before spring break, and they broke up. Jeremiah, on the other hand, viewed it as a permanent breakup, and that’s why he had sexual relations with Lacie. Belly on the other hand, did not see it in the same light and saw Jeremiah’s actions as a form of cheating.

Belly’s and Jeremiah’s breakup made her think of Conrad. She remembered how six months ago, she drove to Fisher’s Beach House, where she met Conrad. The two reconnected. Belly had never told Jeremiah that she saw Conrad. The day, however, made her realize how much she still loved Conrad after dating Jeremiah for years.

Belly and Jeremiah speak a few days after their breakup. Jeremiah tells Belly that she is the only person for him, and he will not risk losing her ever again. Belly accepts Jeremiah’s proposal even though she has feelings for Conrad.

Conrad is staying in the Fishers beach house at the same time as Belly. Conrad helps Belly prepare for her wedding, making Jeremiah jealous. Conrad hears Jeremiah and his friends discussing how Jeremiah had sex during spring break with Lacie. This angers Conrad who believes that Belly is faithful.

Conrad informs Belly of Jeremiah’s infidelity, to which Belly replies that she knew. Conrad confesses to Belly his love, but Belly is angry because he confesses it two years late. Conrad says that he ended up breaking up with Belly after he felt he couldn’t love anyone because of his mother Susannah’s death. He did this to make her feel comfortable with Jeremiah, believing that his brother will treat her well. Conrad asks Belly if she will cancel her marriage to Jeremiah so that they can be together. She says no.

Belly tells Jeremiah what Conrad said the day before their wedding. Jeremiah is shocked to learn that Belly loves Conrad and might be marrying Conrad just to get rid of his brother. Belly finds out that Conrad has been searching for Jeremiah the morning before their wedding. Conrad and Jeremiah get into a fight when Conrad finds Jeremiah. Jeremiah then punches Conrad. Jeremiah agrees that he will return to the wedding but tells Conrad he doesn’t want to see him ever again.

Belly, when Jeremiah returns for the wedding, tells him she is disappointed that he didn’t want to talk about him leaving before their wedding. Jeremiah confesses to Belly that he’s not happy with their relationship because a part of Belly was always with Conrad. Jeremiah asks Belly whether she still loves Conrad and she replies yes. They break up and cancel their wedding.

The book flashes back a few more years to Belly’s age of 24. She reveals she spent a year in Spain, after splitting up with Jeremiah. Conrad wrote the letters. Belly and Conrad reconnected after reading the letters. They eventually married. Belly remembers Susannah’s dreams for Belly, her sons and their futures on the wedding day. Belly and Conrad decide to drive to the beach to play in water after their wedding.

Will The Summer I Turned Pretty television show end the same as the books?

Will The Summer I Turned Pretty television show end the same way as the books? Answer is not clear. Jenny Han, the author of The Summer I Turned Pretty and creator of the series, told Variety in 2022 that the series wasn’t “exactly” the same as the book. This means Belly could end up with a different person in the series.

She said, “It was a bit like balancing act because I had to really weigh what fans expect with the creative direction of the show and find this balance.” “My main priority was to make sure that fans of the novel were satisfied with the story that we told, but that they also knew that it is an adaptation for a new medium and that the story will not be the same. “I think these are the two things I’m always thinking about.”

She also explained how Belly and Jeremiah got together in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1 despite having rejected him in the first novel. This was a little pushed up to the first season. While I was writing Jeremiah’s POV for the second book, my mind was swayed by all sides. The books have been available for some time. I don’t wish to spoil anything, but they are not new. You never know what will happen in the show. I went in with an open mind. “I was open to a variety of possibilities,” she said.

She confirmed that she doesn’t support either character. She said, “I had definitely moments of switching sides, because in order to create these characters, I think you have love them, understand them, and have empathy for their situation.” “I had a great deal of empathy for these two brothers.” My heart would turn exactly like Belly’s.

The only difference between the book and TV series of The Summer I Turned Pretty is Jeremiah being bisexual. This can be seen only in the television series. Han said, “I looked at this adaptation, and thought, if I were to write this book now, how would these characters be written?” “They are all the same characters but I believe culture has changed in many ways. I think that this younger generation is more open-minded, less binary and freer with labels. It made perfect sense to me that Jeremiah would be a character who is comfortable with himself and his skin. It was a natural choice.

Gavin Casalegno (who plays Jeremiah) told Us Weekly 2023 there was a “strong possibility” that the series’ ending would be different from the books. He said, “I feel that there is a high chance that this could be a reality.” “I keep it as realistic as I can in this regard. I’m sure that I know what happens to him and where he goes. But I don’t emphasize… that. Jenny [Han] has written it so well, I don’t have to force myself to go in a particular direction. Even though I can see where he’s going, I still try to take it day-by-day because that’s the only thing we can do. “We can just live in the present and make the best of our time.”
